A spring reading list is one of those little rituals that makes the season feel even more intentional, the right book in your hands while the world outside is just starting to bloom.
For me spring reading has its own feeling. Lighter than winter reads, softer than summer ones, the kind of stories that make ordinary afternoons feel like something worth savoring.
These five picks are the books on my spring reading list this year. One I read last March and it has lived in my heart ever since, one I am currently halfway through and already obsessed with, and a few that feel like they were written for exactly this season.

Why You’ll Love These Spring Reads
Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery

If any book has ever felt like spring, it is this one. Anne of Green Gables has that upbeat joyful energy that makes you want to go outside and find magic in everything around you — the kind of story that does not just romanticize the seasons but genuinely brings joy into your life. I read this for the first time last March and it has lived in a deep place in my heart ever since. There is something about Anne’s world that just feels like spring to me. Maybe it is the way she sees everything with wonder. Maybe it is the bloom of Avonlea coming off the pages. Either way this one is a forever read and the perfect place to start this list.
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst

If you love fantasy that is cozy and a little magical and warm in the best way, The Spellshop is going to be your new favorite spring read. There are cats. There is cottage magic. There is just enough romantic tension to make you smile at your book for no reason in the middle of a quiet afternoon. This is the kind of story that feels like it was made to be read with a warm drink and a candle nearby — completely immersive, completely charming, and impossible not to love.
Emily Wilde’s Encyclopedia of Fairies by Heather Fawcett

This one is on my spring TBR and I genuinely cannot wait to get to it. Everything I have heard about this book has been amazing and the writing pulled me in from the very first chapter. There is something about a book with fairies and beautiful prose that feels perfectly made for spring — whimsical and a little otherworldly, the kind of story that makes the season feel more magical just by existing. I have a feeling this one is going to be a new favorite.
Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter

This is my first romance novel and I am already completely in love with it. Better Than the Movies feels exactly like its title — like a movie you never want to end, full of rom-com energy and pop culture references and the kind of slow burn that makes you hold your breath without realizing it. I am currently halfway through and already obsessed. If you have never read a romance novel before this is the most perfect place to start. It is charming and funny and feels like spring in the best possible way.
The Wind Boy by Ethel Cook Eliot

I have read this book every single year since I was nine years old. That should tell you everything you need to know. The Wind Boy reaches a deep place in my heart every time — it is a true comfort read, the kind of book that feels like coming home. The themes of imagination and wonder and the way it is written just feel like spring to me in a way I cannot fully explain. If you are looking for something that will stay with you long after you finish it, this is the one.
